Complaints#
Today I thought about creating a bot on WeChat Work to handle some tasks, and when I logged into WeChat Work, I found that login verification was required.
However, I had forgotten to change the phone number linked to WeChat Work after changing my phone number, which resulted in the SMS verification code being sent to my old phone number. Looking at another verification method: using the phone that is already logged into WeChat Work to scan the QR code for verification. I felt a chill; there are only two verification methods, and neither of them works for me. Isn't this hopeless?
Then I looked at the official WeChat solution: have the enterprise administrator contact WeChat Work's online customer service for consultation. Coincidentally, I am the administrator of the enterprise, so this method also doesn't work.
With no other options, I could only see if there were any strange methods from netizens to bypass WeChat Work's login verification. After trying for an entire afternoon, not a single method (for me) worked. Finally, I saw a button on the WeChat Work official website to contact customer service through the official WeChat account. Holding onto my last glimmer of hope, I scanned the QR code to follow the official account and reported the situation to the so-called customer service, but unsurprisingly, all I received were replies from a robot customer service. It started by assuming I had found a human customer service representative, followed by a long paragraph of completely unhelpful nonsense.
However, since there is a help center, I decided to click in and see. At the bottom, there was an appeal ticket, so I clicked on it:
At this point, I had lost the motivation to figure out how to log into WeChat Work. I pondered for a long time and couldn't understand why such a large enterprise wouldn't provide a way to reach a real customer service representative... Even more puzzling is why a software can impose various restrictions under the guise of security, combined with the absence of a reachable human customer service, creating a perfect deadlock.
Is it just because it is a monopoly?
Update 2022.6.4: A workaround I found#
I found a method to change the linked phone number. First, open the Enterprise Email login page, log in by scanning the QR code, and then select the account for which you need to change the phone number; here, I chose the first one to log in.
Once inside, select 'Settings' - 'Account' - 'Phone Number' - 'Change' in the upper left corner, click it, and then use WeChat to scan the QR code to change the phone number.
